Winter Update.

Sorry for my extremely long absence from the blogosphere. Things have been absolutely crazy. I have been working two jobs and doing full time school to boot. Here are some photos from a photo shoot I did at the beginning of the month with an absolutely wonderful local photographer, Glen Co. He was so much fun to work with and he is incredibly talented.   To check out his website click here!

Back to School.

Dress- Aritzia (Wilfred), Beanie- American Apparel,  Bralette- American Apparel, Watch- Daniel Wellington

Another all black outfit! I'm sorry I haven't been posting a lot lately, I have started school again which makes it difficult to find time to take photos. Aside from trying to find time to take photos, finding money to buy clothes to take outfit pictures is also terribly difficult... When I do have money I spend it on my art projects and those can get quite pricey really quickly. I'm hoping to find another job soon so hopefully that will help me in the money department, but it certainly won't help me in the "lack of time to do anything" department.

Back to the whole "all black everything thing." Last year a teacher had asked me if my clothing was a part of my artistic practice and it really made me think a lot. I like to be fully immersed in my art so I decided I would find a way of working my clothing into my practice. My practice consists of mainly minimal, conceptual sculptures so "minimal" became a key word to me when it comes to what I wear. What better way to minimize your wardrobe than to eliminate all colours?

So now when I'm at school I try to mostly just wear black but I have to admit that I do cheat a bit and wear some grey or white sometimes. Sometimes I even get a little wild and switch it up with a little brown... But all black is my staple.

Happy Wednesday!

Textures

Sweater- Springsioux, Skirt- Sirens, Shoes- Arnold Churgin, Bag-Arnold Churgin, Sunglasses- Little Burgundy

I love this outfit a lot more now that I see it in pictures. I love all black with a mix of textures! I don't normally wear skirts this short but the long portion helps me feel like it's not too revealing. The sweater I purchased last month while I was in Paris from an absolutely wonderful shop called Springsioux. All of their clothing is absolutely stunning and the quality is outstanding. If you ever find yourself shopping in Paris do make a stop over there, the staff are so friendly and helpful and the merchandise is so beautiful. I honestly cannot say enough good things about Springsioux.

The  handbag was a wonderful rediscovery for me. I had purchased it two years ago when I first started working for Arnold Churgin, it was the very first purchase I made there and it's absolutely beautiful. It's not super trendy so even though I bought it two years ago I still love it. Don't you love when you rediscover old things in your closet that you completely forgot about?

Happy Monday!

On Hand.

I have a hard time coming to terms with colour so I never wear nail polish. I am currently hunting for the perfect nude, maybe YSL's BEIGE GALLERY from their fall 13 collection?

Anyways, this is what my hands look like lately. All of my rings are sterling silver and have slowly been collected over time, each of my rings and bracelets are sentimental and special to me in some way. When I was young and dancing whenever I won a championship for highland dancing I would buy a ring to remember it, therefore, from a really young age I became accustomed to wearing a lot of rings. I even learned how to tell my left from my right by wearing a ring on my right hand at the age of 6 or 7.  I've never been one to buy a ton of jewellery and switch it out constantly. When I like a piece of jewelry I wear it 24/7 until it breaks or I grow absolutely sick of it. Some people like to switch their jewelry daily and others like to wear theirs everyday 24/7 like me.

What's your relationship with jewelry like? Do you wear the same one pieces everyday or do you like to switch it up?

Happy Friday!

Gray Scale

It's waaayy too hot in Calgary right now to be wearing this outfit, but I was so in love with this cape that I just couldn't wait to wear it... I found this at the least likely store ever. I saw it in the window display at Bellissima while I was walking around the mall on my lunch break and I just had to have it. It's gray on one side and it's black on the inside and the material is so soft it's to die for.

I hope your day is going well!

These photos maybe don't really showcase my outfit all that well, but I am  absolutely loving the wall that they were shot in front of. If you get a chance you should check out XYZ's instagram @itsXYZ he is one of the artists who painted this wall. I get paid tomorrow and I will hopefully be doing a little shopping soon so there will be more outfit posts to come!

Life Lately.

Sorry for being a terrible blogger lately. I have been working pretty much every single day and it's been quite difficult  to find time to take photos and make a blog post. Here are some photos from Saturday. I finally got the guts to go and get the tattoo that I had been wanting to get for a long time now. Most of my other tattoos don't have very deep meanings, but this one is very special to me so I absolutely love it.

I took more photos on Saturday so stay tuned for more!

Happy Tuesday!

Kimono

I purchased this kimono today and I plan on wearing it out to my friend's birthday party tonight! I saw it yesterday in Kensington at Trends (a vintage/consignment store) but didn't actually end up buying it, so  today I spent the entire time at work wishing I had bought it and hoping to goodness that it would still be there when my shift was over. The universe was good to me and when I finally made my way down to Trends today, I was lucky enough that it was still there. I had better hurry up and get going now though!

Happy Saturday!

Trash Talk

Boots- Forever 21, Sweater- American Apparel, Shorts- Vintage Levi's, Watch- Daniel Wellington

I only had a few minutes to take pictures for this outfit post today so I had to be quick and find a close and convenient spot to take some photos so -garbage can it is!  I seem to be perpetually cold so it rarely gets warm enough here in Calgary for me to wear an outfit like this so any chance I get I like to wear my vintage Levi shorts. They are so worn out and have a rather large hole in the crotch, but I still refuse to get rid of them. They are honestly my only jean-like bottoms that I own, so how could I get rid of them?

Today I had a really great day, I went down to kensington with my dad and we had burgers, then I went to see a psychic. It was my first time seeing one and it was actually quite a wonderful experience.
Anyways, I hope you're having a great day!

P.S. Please excuse the squinty eyes, it was sunset and I was pretty much looking directly into the sun...

Happy Friday!

Lo and Behold

Beanie- American Apparel, Sweater- Vince, Jacket- Forever 21, Bag- Zara, Shoes- Arnold Churgin

Sad as it is, this seems to be my go-to outfit this summer. We really haven't had much of a summer this year in Calgary. I was super excited about finding this bag, I cannot even begin to explain. One of my favourite fashion bloggers Angelica Blick had this handbag in one of her posts and I just had to have it. I called my local Zara to find out if they had any in stock, and when she said they did not, I was disappointed but decided to purchase it online. When I got to the website I discovered that it was all sold out. I was a little discouraged but did not give up hope, and I decided to continue my hunt for the bag when I went to Paris. My poor parents were dragged along to Zaras all over Paris as I scoured the racks in search of this bag. Finally I gave up and decided that my dreams of owning this handbag were no longer feasible. Then yesterday, I was out shopping with my boyfriend and we decided to go into Zara. We were walking around when lo and behold there was the handbag! In a pile of other black handbags on the floor! Even better, it was on sale for $39.99. Needless to say, I immediately bought it, and here it is in my outfit post. So if you want one for yourself, you may need to embark on some crazy journey like I did, or pay double the price for one on ebay...

I apologize if that was entirely pointless, or boring.  I guess I just really, really wanted the bag...

Happy Tuesday!

Versailles.

Dress-Oysho, Sweater-Springsioux, Sandals- Franco Sarto from Arnold Churgin

I was so busy and we had a very limited time in France so I only managed to make one outfit post while I was there. These photos were taken in the gardens of Chateau Versailles where Marie Antoinette once lived. I don't know all that much about French history to be honest but I am a huge fan of Sophia Coppola's film on Maria Antoinette so it was exciting to be there and to walk around on the grounds.

Happy Tuesday!

I love you to the moon and back.

Shirt- Brandy Melville, Sweater- American Apparel, Bag- Zara, Shoes- Arnold Churgin

Sorry I haven't blogged for a couple of days I have been fairly busy. One of my best friends in the whole world was in town and I wanted to spend as much time with her as possible while she was here. As some of you might be able to tell from the photos, I am from Calgary. It is a great city and the recent flood disaster made me really proud to be a Calgarian when I saw just how many people were willing to step in and lend each other a hand in times of great need. Because my house was not personally effected by the flood it's easy to forget about the great need that still exists amongst my fellow neighbours. Today I went down to the river by the Peace Bridge with my boyfriend and seeing just how high the river still is, how fast and dirty it still is, was a good reminder that there are still people out there needing help.

Thunder Storm.

There is a huge thunder storm going on outside. My poor little dog is so afraid he is currently hiding under the couch (you can see him in these pictures hiding to the left of the couch.) Though I was originally planning on heading out to the stampede I think that I'm just going to cozy up on the couch, drink tea and watch Game of Thrones.

All Black Everything

Dress- Sirens, Sweater-H&M, Sunglasses- Little Burgundy, Watch- Daniel Wellington, Bracelet- Thomas Sabo

Even in the summer I still love to wear all black. There is something so empowering about being completely in black. I feel like a femme fatale when I'm wearing all black.  I love wearing all black and playing around with textures to make the look more interesting. Wow, how many times can I say the word "black?"

Today was a pretty uneventful day, I went to work from nine to five then I went and picked my dad up from the airport. Now I'm off to read some game of thrones and have a bubble bath.
